High quality local food accessible to low income famililes

9 November, 2014

Foodies Project, a local Sonoma County resource created by Angela Wooton, empowers low-income families to shop for and prepare local food.  By connecting through web-based Meet-up events, families can attend grocery store and farmers’ market tours, affordable farm-to-table meals, sustainable ag (farm) tours, food film screenings, workshops and more! Bread for the Journey Sonoma County awarded $1500 to this start up organization to provide cooking demos and tastings, affordable holiday local food shopping tours, workshops for affordable local food gift ideas, and several holiday gatherings which include goodie bags for attendees and their children. Foodies Project works closely with local farmers and food producers and a majority of grant funds will go directly into the hands of local farmers, creating win-win connections to food in our community!
